A place for Kids to be Kids - Kidsthletics
What is just as important than health and fitness for adults? It is the health and wellness of kids of course! They are the future of this world and with the domination of computers and technology, it can seem that youngsters are so far removed from the days of Leave it to Beaver and playing outside all day.
This is where Kidsthletics Club enters the scene! Located in downtown Corvallis at 324 SW 2nd Street, Kidsthletics Club is a children's gym that provides age-appropriate classes for children 3 months to 14 years of age started by Enrique Solar and Ingrid Garcia.
Not only does the space provide a safe place for kids to play and socialize, it really gets them active and engaged at a young age. Recently I had the pleasure to ask the couple some questions about their business.
Q: Please tell me a little more about your business and why it makes a difference to Corvallis?
Solar: Kidsthletics Club makes fitness fun for kids 3 months to 14 years of age in a safe, clean, and fun environment. We believe we make a difference by teaching children that exercise in the form of Gymnastics, Yoga, or any other of our classes, is healthy and fun!
Q: What are the benefits of children having a place to focus on exercise and wellness?
Solar: Obesity and boredom are two problems we want to eliminate from our society. By creating Kidsthletics Club, a place designed to turn exercise into a lifelong habit, we have also created ways to show kids how fun moving and learning a new activity can be.
Q: What ages are your typical customers?
Solar: Our customers are typically 2 to 6 years old. But we have Mom and baby classes, as well as other classes for older children.
Q: How did your wife & you start the business? How long has it been in Corvallis?
Solar: Our business started over a year and a half ago. Ingrid and I saw the opportunity to show our community in Benton and Lynn Co. how fun exercise can be, and how important it is to introduce healthy activities to kids at an early age.
We both lived busy/healthy life styles at a young age where our parents introduced us to different activities, played sports with us, and even took us to the gym! And that created a lifelong habit. The habit of being active and healthy.
Q: How did you come up with the idea of opening the store for kids?
Solar: Our experience working with children in early childhood education made it easy for us to open KTC. After all, kids are the future! We want kids, our own and everyone else's, to be healthy, to have fun being kids, and to have healthy activity options
Q: What are some of the challenges of opening a business?
Solar: It is hard for small business owners like us who are local and are not a big franchise, plus having a little girl at home doesn't make things easier, but we always manage to give all of our energy and love to this idea of offering healthy activities for children at an affordable cost!
Q: Please tell me about any promotions / events you would like to advertise and talk about!
Solar: We are now enrolling for the healthiest and most fun Summer Camp in Corvallis, and also enrolling for our Bilingual Preschool Enrichment Program for next Fall!
